Surrounding ourselves with positivity is always a good thing, especially in spaces we most often occupy. For me this is definitely my room. An inspiration board can help provide motivation to be productive, encouraging words, and add a bright appeal to your room. Here are my steps for creating an inspiration board:
Gather some references– you will need a few sources for the images to put up on your board. I really like to use Pinterest for visuals (I didn’t have time for the purpose of this post to print anything from Pinterest XD). Look through your magazines and online resources for any words or pictures that motivate or inspire you. I leaned towards occupational goals when making my selections. For example, I’m really interested in moving to New York City for journalism so I chose “Destination: New York” and the cityscape as my largest pieces, and the words “reporter” and “editor”. In addition, growing my hair out and embracing my curls is something very important to me so I included a picture of a girl with longer curly hair. Just find as many selections as you’d like to use and cut them out. Some people also like to choose a color theme for the aesthetic but I just picked pictures and words out individually.- Get a board– You can use a number of types of board to make this work: a cork board or even a large poster board will work. I’ve had this board for several years, I think I purchased it at TJ Maxx for under $10. Lay out your selections before you attach them to your board.
Fasteners- You can also attach your selections a number of ways. As you see here, my board already keeps things secure using the ribbon but you can also use push pins, clothing pins, or tape (for paper boards) to keep things up. 
- Now that you have all of your decorations up, add some accessories! I added pins and a Polaroid but you can also hang jewelry or other decorative pieces from the board if it is sturdy.
- Finally, you can hang it up!I hung it below a page of inspirational quotes from a magazine and a quote from Jhene Aiko’s Bed Peace that I made into wall art.
I’m definitely not finished with it yet. There’s so much more space to be filled on my board, but it’s off a good start. I hope this was helpful if you all do decide to make your own.
