April Faves

April was honestly just me trying to focus on studying and ending up on YouTube or Netflix.

Makeup

When I was on spring break, I realized I had forgotten to bring lip balm with me for when I went to Busch Gardens. I happened to pick up the Carmex Comfort Care in Sugar Plum and let me say, it’s amazing! Unlike other lip balms that systematically dry out your lips so that you’ll need to reapply, this one really keeps your lips moisturized. And it’s just glossy enough to wear by itself and add a natural beauty glow.

This next one is an oldie: the Nars brow perfector. I’ve been using it for a while and it’s an all time favorite. I know there’s a lot of hype around Anastasia’s brow pomade but I’m not too much for the heavy sculpted eyebrow look. I think it’s just right for filling in a little.

Fragrance

I recently purchased this Tutti Dolci body spray in Golden Honey Praline. The Tutti Dolci line was just recently released at Bath and Body Works. If you really like sweet smelling perfume then this is definitely for you. The entire collection is awesome actually.

Food

The French brioche bread from Trader Joe’s is honestly a must try. I’ve never been a big bread person so for me to say this is a huge deal. It’s kind of sweet and I hear it makes an awesome French toast. I use it for sandwiches or I just toast it but it’s one of the few breads I’ll actually eat.

Drink wise, if there’s one thing I love, it’s my chai tea. Trader Joe’s has this Oregon Chai concentrate that you mix with milk to make a latte. Hot or cold, it tastes amazing. (It obviously tastes better hot but who can really wait that long?)

TV

Saving the best for last, of course my TV favorite of the month was the Netflix original Dear White People. What I liked so much about Dear White People is that it defied stereotypes. It used black intellectuals at a prestigious university to show that racism definitely still exists, including institutionally. The characters are all dynamic and you grow to appreciate them all. The show really isn’t meant to attack white people but give insight and an explanation as to why some people feel the way they do based on a variety of backgrounds. Plus there are a number of entertaining subplots. I think the show has a lesson and value to people of every background. There are so many things to be said about how the show brings entertainment and a fresh approachable attitude to an ever present issue.

That just about sums up my favorites for last month!

Until next time, Nia Shalise
