Welcome to my new series of posts: Steer Clear of Drama! High school is a time to learn about and enjoy yourself and explore who you want to become. But… it’s also a time for drama. He said, she said, the whole nine yards. You can almost always look around a classroom and find someone visibly upset with someone else. And why is that? Aren’t we only here, in theory, to learn? Getting involved in theatrics can be stressful and distracting. Throughout this series, I’ll address a few ways I’ve learned to stay out of the drama spotlight.
A lot of people see strong positive lights in others and try to sabotage them. Why? Maybe insecurities lead them to envy things that others are doing for themselves. They could just do it to be cruel. Regardless of their logic, it means that you’re doing something so right that haters don’t want you to have it. Trial and error- on my part and of those close to me- has led me to keep a lot of things I’m working on mostly to myself.
Sharing your ideas and thoughts with a couple close friends you really trust is better in the long run than with any and everyone. When everyone knows your business, you subject yourself to their own motives. For example, telling someone you’re somewhat cool with about someone you’re interested in, you very well may see them hanging out by the next week. Or you may recognize the design you elaborately spilled to a group of acquaintances at lunch on someone else’s notebook. If you really trust the people you’re sharing personal information with, you shouldn’t have to worry about it being used against you.
I’m not at all suggesting shutting everyone out and becoming a hermit; I’ve just found that it’s in your best interest to keep personal business private (not necessarily secret) at least until it’s manifested into something that you can publicly put your name to. That way you won’t have any worries about trouble with someone copying you or taking something away from you because it’s still in the developmental phase. If your interests and the things that are important to you are kept private, people will have no idea what’s important to you and how to get under your skin.
A motivating discussion is definitely worth comment. I do think
