As you all know, I recently ventured out to American Apparel to visit in its final days (and hopefully find a good sale!). I left with two pieces: a bodysuit and a skirt.
I was incredibly excited with my purchases and rushed their debut despite the inconvenient weather. Florida actually decided to be cold so I paired my new outfit with a denim jacket.
I’ve been obsessed with the velvet trend for the longest but I think I was just waiting to find the right piece. The trend spans all articles of clothing: purses, hats, shoes, dresses, shirts, etc. but I wanted something a little less common. The combination of a lengthier skirt with velvet reminds me of the perfect piece for those businesswomen who have mastered their day-to-night transitions.
I had been a little intimidated by the long business-like skirt as I was unsure if it would make me seem too stiff, or maybe drown out my entire figure but I’ve got to say, I was pretty impressed with the outcome. The skirt fit tight and high around my waist but left just the right amount of room towards the bottom. The short-sleeved striped bodysuit offsets the formal nature of the skirt with a touch of casual. It screams “put together” yet “at ease”. The look is meant to be simple and classic which is why I paired it with my signature eyeliner and lipstick look, featuring Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit in Dolce K.
